Item does not work as instructed

I like the idea of these devices but on one of them I bought the light just flashes red so I don't know if it works or not and the other one I bought same Time did the same, then it flashed blue 4 times, then purple once for what I put on the cork pad ie cell phone and a mug with a metal circle on the bottom. I have written to the company and am hoping they can advise me or refund me for their product
