Mixed feelings about this bike, bad design.

I was very happy to find an 18 inch bike with a sleek design, hand brakes and a good price. However, I was unable to assemble the bike on my first attempt due to what I would call a poorly designed handlebar and stem assembly. First, let me say that I am skilled enough to do household electrical and plumbing jobs. Building this bike should have been easy, but not quite. The handlebars attach to the stem by tightening the bezel on the stem top plate. The handlebar must be pressed between two metal surfaces with four screws, one in each corner, to keep the handlebar from turning. Well the problem is that the screws holding the two panels together are too short. It is very difficult to insert all four screws at the same time. Basically, I have to make half a turn at a time so that all four screws just touch their sockets on the top plate. Worst of all, when tightening the screws, I stripped the threads. Since the top threads were stripped, the screws were too short for me to tighten all four screws at once. I consider this a design flaw because I didn't tighten it very firmly and couldn't secure the handlebars before pulling the threads off; Once the threads are stripped I can't get the screws on, on Monday I'll call customer service and if they give me any problems I'll just return it.
