I used to wear Pearl Izumi cycling shorts but since retiring from the military I've gained weight and had to order a size up. These shorts are cheaper than Zhemchug so I hesitated to buy them as Zhemchug brand suited me. However, I have several pairs of Baleaf activewear underwear and found the quality to be good, so I took a chance and bought a pair of cycling shorts. I am impressed. I didn't think 3D padding would make a difference, but it does. The My Pearl shorts feature standard foam throughout the suede, while the Baleaf uses strategic placement in key areas that makes them a little more comfortable as you don't have padding where it shouldn't be. because of my weight Reinforcement, I ordered size XL and although they mostly fit well, they are a bit large, especially in length; The cuffs go to my knees, so I have to pull them up a bit to avoid chafing behind my knees. However, I hope to start losing weight again and if I need new shorts I will definitely buy this brand again.
