I love NiteIze gears. I bought a few long before and chose a variety of packaging. I have to say that the most practical sizes for travel/hiking/climbing are 18" + 12" (that's half the length). The 6" is probably only good for something like haversack ties. 2" is useless as I understand it? - too short. I bought these from Revain's warehouse and although they were supposed to inspect the packaging I was warned by one of shorted them out. But it turns out that's not a loss! What I love about gears is that they really flex and bend all the way through. You can bend them a thousand times and they'll snap right back to their original shape. I bought them mainly because my backpack (for some reason?) lacks padding straps. I can use an 18" backpack assembled with other straps and buckles on a backpack to wrap around a sleeping bag. Others have I just tossed them in my backpack to store them, who knows what you might need them for on the trail - to keep food covered? quick fix?
