I bought several of these to use as holders for large production tools. I attach them to chrome wire shelves and sink a heavy 24 inch tool into them. They do a great job as tool holders, so obviously they're pretty sturdy. I later decided on one for home use and found it to be the perfect size. I switched to a larger diameter because the utensils tilted too much and often got tangled. But with this perfect size, the tools stay fully upright and you can use them with ease Remove and move each shell with one hand.
