they do smear within the first couple of seconds on certain smooth surfaces but after that, they do dry and stay in place. no color runs. another issue is they are very uncomfortable to hold and use for an amount of time. it hurt my fingers using the fine tip side. i don't know why it was so painful. the barrel was thin and i didn't have much to grasp onto for a steady hold. it was not a soft or smooth grip anywhere on it. just an odd shaped end to where the user has to hold onto. it's not ideal at all. this could have been designed better. maybe thats the reason. but i do not like using these at all for over 30 minutes tops. after half an hour, my fun and colorful projects become pains in the behind if im still using these markers. also the colors do dry to be lighter.
