Disappointed best in Accessories

Like many others Also, I found that the top mounting plate was loose. This is enough to trigger the rattle when nothing is attached to it. Under the weight of the attached mount and device, the rattling goes away, but play helps the device move around a bit. tightened it up to the point where I felt the adapter was secure. I installed the wireless charger/holder and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ phone and was on my way. At the end of the 15-20 minute ride I found that the adapter was bent about 1/4 inch. I think it won't be long before it comes out fully and becomes a hazard while driving. I really can't comment on how it will hold a regular suction cup. The charger/mount I have has a sticky surface suction cup that is suitable for various spots in the car. In doing so, I realized that the whole idea of using such a mounting surface adapter in a car cup holder wasn't that viable. However, since my findings in this regard are not a mounting surface adapter error, I do not deduct a point. Here are my findings: 1. In most cars that I know of, the 2 cup holders are close enough that the other cup holder cannot be used once the holder and device are installed. When the phone is angled so you can see the screen, part of the phone is over the other cup holder.2. In most vehicles, when using almost all suction cup holders/wireless chargers with a new generation (larger) device, the device is too close to the driver's hand. I believe this poses an unintended hazard when the driver tries to avoid hitting the device, when reaching for the vehicle's controls, or when steering unexpectedly. Unfortunately, almost all of the chargers/holders I've seen from Revain don't have a mount that allows you to position the device farther from the rider. The only alternative is to mount the charger/bracket on the dashboard or air vent, in which case this surface mount adapter is not required.3. If you look at the device while driving, you must take your eyes off the road too far. another danger. Based on these findings, I cannot recommend this type of device for use at all. This is not about the Gear USA cup holder suction cup adapter itself.

Pros
  • ADJUSTABLE: The Gear USA cup mount adapter offers a flat 3.4" mounting surface for most OEM suction cup mounts - fits smartphones, tablets, radar detectors, GPS, etc.
Cons
  • Good, but not as good
