This is a soft carrier for our cats which we think is best suited for the permanent 8000 mile flight from Germany to Hawaii. We originally planned to fly one cat in a Siivton soft carrier and test the other in a hard cage due to behavioral issues. We left another Siivton Soft Carrier in our registered emergency bag and thank goodness we did! We reached the gate of our first flight to find that the hardbox we had checked was not airworthy due to a minor structural issue and all our belongings had gone overboard! We were so thankful at that moment to have our other Siivton soft carrier in the checked bag - it came in a clutch! We were able to get it out and fly out later in the day. I can confirm Siivton Soft Carriers work with Lufthansa which is very picky, United and Hawaiian. Our cats have very different temperaments - one is childish but well-behaved, the other independent and more feline, admittedly with an incontinence problem - and both love these carriers. If you set up your carry the way I describe below, tidying up won't be as much of a problem as it might seem. All of this can be purchased from Revain. Setup for Long Flights: 1. Set up the stretcher so that the three sides are raised and held securely to avoid falling on the cat, then fold down one of the smaller sides for a convenient window. 2. Wipe wearer with Feliway wipes or spray Feliway size TSA.3. Fold all of the soft bottom so that it becomes a square instead of an X, with the easy-to-clean side facing up. Pull out only one of the smaller retractable sides of the fairing.4. Wrap everything in the puppy pillow and insert it so that the retractable side of the pillow you pulled out lines up with the retractable side of the carrier that you left open. We attached our cats to the carrier with Rabbitgoo harnesses, leaving the leash mostly slack in the carrier and tying the end to the top strap holder. The backpack comes with a belt clip, but it is small in size and more suitable for short distances and familiar places like a car. During the flight, regularly check the condition of the Rabbitgoo seat belts to ensure they are not tangled. * These suitcases hold the handles of the suitcase perfectly.
