Review on Panasonic SL-CT520 Portable CD/MP3 Player with Enhanced D.Sound Technology for Superior Audio Experience by Josh Goldsmith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Panasonic D-Sound technology is not just advertising!

Overview: Awesome sound from a small device. Very light - weighs about as much as two CD cases. No vibration when playing a CD. I bought this player over Sony models because it has 3D stereo and MP3 remastering (up-sampling) and it's worth it! Made of plastic, the design still shows quality, as all parts and buttons fit together exactly. Buy this for $44 and you won't regret it. Pros: Using high quality Sony Studio MDR 7506 headphones sounds fantastic. Deep but clear bass with Extra Bass mode. Clean highs and a very balanced and natural unadulterated sound quality. The 3D Stereo setting offers natural surround sound without artificial noise. Sounds like a high quality solid state stereo system when playing regular CDs. Sounds like a high quality tube/solid state stereo system when playing mp3 in remastered (upsampled) mode. Recognizes MP3 folders. The mp3 remastering (up-sampling) function makes even low bitrate songs sound almost the same as the original CD recording. Cons: Fast forward/rewind a song on a regular CD, but not fast forward/rewind a song in MP3 format. (If you need to fast forward/rewind long files, be sure to burn them to disc as regular audio CD, not mp3). Enabling the MP3 remastering (up-sampling) feature slightly reduces battery life. The ID3 mp3 tag does not appear to be implemented on this model of CD player as the mp3 files do not display the song or artist name.

Pros
  • Includes external battery case and headphones; 5.38 x 0.78 x 5.38 inches (W x H x D)
Cons
  • Hard to say
