After I sharpened the blade it worked much better (I used an IKEA knife sharpener)! I agree with some of the other reviews that the blade only hurts, not cuts, some vegetables. Honestly, I'd rather just lay out the cutting board and poke a knife into the foods I want to add to the salad. However, if you just like to throw everything in a bowl and roughly chop things up, then this is fine for you. My 12 year old son liked using it because he said it's different and he has to wash less dishes after him. Find out. I liked how he uses it because he keeps his fingers off the blade. My son has made a salad using the following ingredients with good results: raw ramen noodles, napa sprouts, green onions, toasted sliced almonds, and sesame seeds. He prepared the salad in a bowl with a rocking knife and then ate the salad from the same bowl. Yes, the bowl is quite large, but it fit him. The knife is also very comfortable to hold and swings well in the bowl. Some of his spring onions were more squashed than chopped, but he cut them roughly. This article is more "new" to me than useful.
