Much better than clay, tea or wood. Will be used until something better comes along

Having had cats for the past 2+ decades I have tried most types of cat litter. I tried "Best" but it's not. I have used Chinikoi green tea and wooden cat litter (from the same company) but the prices have gone up. I've used crystal cat litter in the past, but cheaper crystal cat litter has sharp crystals that penetrate everywhere and let urine leak through and pool at the bottom of the bowl. , and bought scatter beads. They are not completely dust-free, but wobble less. I still have to use toilet mats but the amount of waste outside the box is much less. I have two baggers, one of which has very long hair. Less dirt gets into their paws. In addition, they absorb urine as it flows down. If the trays are shaken daily there is no clumping and pooling problem. The smell is much less. A little Arm & Hammer deodorant will do the rest. And yes, it takes a long time, at least 2 weeks, which is saying something as I have 3 cats. Finally, what can be pulled from the shell isn't razor sharp, and if stepped on it will break into small dry pieces that are easy to suck up. Interestingly, they dissolve in hot water. Out of curiosity, and wanting to feel better about not using the more "earth-friendly" filler, I doused some of the crystals with hot water and they dissolved. I'm assuming cold water does the same thing, just much slower.
