Review on πŸ’§ Stay Hydrated On-The-Go with the Hydrapak SF750 SoftFlask by Wanick Palermo

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice bottle but would benefit from a small modification

The concept is good, especially considering the space, and the whole bottle seems to be made out of good materials. However, I give it one star for how difficult it was (for me at least) to remove the cap and also tighten it adequately. On a long run with sweaty or wet hands from filling the bottle, I found it almost impossible to tighten the ribbed collar tight enough to prevent leakage (the bottle would leak if the cap wasn't pulled down firmly) as my hands over the smooth surface slipped. adjustable collar. It was very difficult to get the bottle and sometimes I felt like I could break the bottle. NO leaks were detected when carrying a full cylinder in the INOV 8 belt pouch with the collar tightened. We bought this bottle to test its suitability for a run through the Sierra in September, but after just one use in the field it was clear that we would either modify the bottle or find a replacement. Here's a vastly improved mod: Use the awl of your Swiss army knife (or other sharp object) and gently scrape out the collar you're holding on to tighten the clasp. Looks pretty bad, but some long, deep scratches on the plastic create a much rougher surface that allows you to better grip the insanely slippery and slightly conical surface (make the scratches parallel to the long axis of the bottle). ). I don't know if anyone else had the same difficulty tightening the bottle cap - maybe I'm incredibly weak and didn't know until now - but the original collar design, while looking very neat and clean, suffers from being tapered and too smooth (in my opinion). Maybe there are protrusions in newer versions, like on a toothpaste cap.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
