The filters in this paper box are completely exposed. They are "fixed" only by the tongue that holds the hinged lid. Can be opened and closed easily without leaving any marks. Naked filters just lie in the box. No protection from the elements, moisture, critters or hacking. Not surprisingly, some reviewers report bugs in theirs. Out of curiosity, I counted the filters in mine. Up and down several times. 98 filters instead of 100. Factory error or something else? Your guess is as true as mine. There is no production date on the packaging. However, there is a copyright notice on the back. Dated (c) 2015. It's now February 2021. Maybe they just don't update their copyright notice? I don't have another box to compare to and probably never will. Unlike them, Hario filters come in a sealed plastic bag inside the box. Like most cheap filters. Or at least they have a perforated flap that needs to be ripped open to open the box. Selling these at an inflated price is shameful and borders on fraud.
