I used to have six regular 100 watt lightbulbs in my garage which lit the room quite well. There were a few more dark areas so I wanted to lighten them up a bit. I bought 6 of these and almost returned them because they are so bright I almost went blind just to install the damn things. The light is incredibly bright, but very cold. Keep this in mind when replacing "warm" lightbulbs as they will make your room look very different. At first I set them up so the light was pointing straight down, but this made my garage look like a prison with very harsh, well-defined shadows. I raised the light rays 10-20 degrees or so and it seemed to soften the shadows a bit. I thought about buying a stick-on reflective sheeting, but the only ones I could find were advertised as *dimming* lights, which I didn't want.
