Review on πŸ–ŒοΈ Sakura XBR-48SA Koi Assorted Coloring Brush Pen Set: Vibrant 48-Piece Collection for Creative Artwork by Amber Perez

Nothing beats or compares to this set

I am taking an online course to learn how to do freehand and brush lettering and these pens were recommended to me. I tried to save money by ordering a different set and brand which gave you more flowers/pens for your money. Big mistake. First, not all brush pens are created equal. Koi pens have a flexible marker tip, while some others (including another brand I bought) have real pen brushes like a brush. The other set also had less vibrant colors and while they offered more pencils/colors, many of them were close together so you don't really get as much variety as it seems. For example, using a different brand, my husband (artist) tried to paint a baby's fair skin for a watercolor portrait he was commissioned to create. The other set had nothing close to the skin color he wanted. He tried unsuccessfully to blend/blend multiple colors. And when he tried to thin the colors with water, it took so much water to thin them that it ruined the paper. He used this koi kit to create artist trading cards for a charity project he is involved with and had no problem getting the skin tones and other color tones he needed. I also had trouble with the other set's brush tip when practicing brush lettering. I prefer the feather in this koi set. This gives me a lot more control. The colors in this Koi kit are also much brighter and easier to work with than the other kits. Lesson learned! You get what you pay for! Now I'm a big fan of Sakura Koi!
