When you need to change the battery in a car built after 2000, you need one to power the car's many electronic systems. EZ Red supplies power from another vehicle's 12V power socket (original cigarette lighter socket). The cable is long enough for easy access if you can park cars nearby. A practical indicator shows whether power is present. The other end connects to the vehicle's data port, which requires a battery change. Then you can easily replace the old battery. Time doesn't matter as another car's battery will support this tiny current draw almost indefinitely. Just turn it off when you're done and that's it. It couldn't be easier. I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the rigidity of the twisted pair cabling. It's twisted like an old telephone receiver and a bit stiff, especially on chilly days.
