Custom hardware

The pistol grip is a good idea. It's a lot easier than a standard ball mount. The problem is that all interfaces to other devices (tripod, camera mount) are non-standard. The camera mount is ALMOST a universal standard ARCA mount, but it's too small (like switching between metric and imperial sizes). The top unscrews with a standard hex nut, but the remaining top plate is ALMOST the right size for the ARCA universal base. Again, there's something non-standard about the fact that there's a platter you can't install a standard ARCA base on. Detachable Plate - ALMOST a standard ARCA mount, but again, it's way too small. If all of these parts were made to a standard this would be a great addition to my tripod but as it is it doesn't work with everything else I have.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Big and chunky
