Review on Universal Keystone Punch Down Tool For Cat6, Cat5E, RJ11 And RJ12 Jacks By IMBAPrice by Kevin Mckechnie

Causes injury to fingers and hands

I did 15 keystones. I tried all of the different slots to put the keystone. The block is made of sturdy material, it's just designed terribly. Whenever I did a punch down, the block either flew up or away in reaction to the punch. Since I'm new to this, I thought maybe it's my punch down technique so I kept trying. I tried low-impact punch, the wire would not punch into the keystone and the keystone would fall out of the block. I tried high-impact punch it made a good punch but the block with the jack would punch back onto my fingers or hands and bruise them. There has got to be a way to hold this block in place so it doesn't go flying. I just don't understand. I ended up just not using a block to do the punch downs.

Pros
  • Very good and handy unit to have when using on the punch down jack CAT5/6.
Cons
  • The tool may not be as durable as some other models on the market, leading to potentially expensive repairs or replacements
