This item works great if you have 2 computers in a separate room from your router/modem. To the right. Works exactly as advertised - allows 2 computers to connect to the internet but not at the same time. Works great if you have a work PC and a gaming PC in the same room, separated by a router or modem, with only one or the other turned on or connected to the internet at a time. If both PCs are on and connected to the internet at the same time, I would recommend purchasing a different router/switch instead of this item.
