This actually works well for beer and water bottles.
I bought this because I figured the worst case scenario would be me losing $7 and the best case scenario would be to help my mom open water bottles more easily. I don't drink beer but I tested this on opening a beer and it works great. I would give 9/10 for bottled water. It doesn't hold the cap 100%, but it's enough to make opening water bottles easier, even for those with arthritis.
