Temperature control is interesting although I only used the max temperature. It can quickly reach the maximum temperature. I used this tool to replace 4 damaged capacitor-like components in 4 Aquarite control boards. Two controller boards were tested in good working order (which cost me about $500 if I bought two new controller boards). So the soldering iron has done its job and I probably won't be using it for a long time). An annoying problem is that the tip of the tool gets dirty very quickly. I used the included sponge to wipe the tip and the sponge burned off. I'll probably buy some sort of tip cleaning tool, rosin flux, and even some tin wax if I use it often. With these additional elements you get the perfect round solder shape.
