The item is average, not sure if it's worth the money.

I bought blindly, trusting the brand. Since 2022 I have owned Kindle 4, I thought that during this time e-ink screens have stepped far ahead, and have become almost indistinguishable from paper, and the best of them will be in the top Oasis for 300 bucks. How wrong I was! Firstly, the screen substrate is really more gray than on my ancient Kindle 10 years ago! I am attaching a photo. Gentlemen of Amazon engineers and marketers, are you all good with cognitive abilities there to do this and sell for $ 300? Gray screen results in low contrast (i. E. text blends into the background). This is slightly offset by the included backlight, but with it, the letters become even less contrasting and loose. Secondly, the backlight itself works in such a way that the feeling of reading from paper is lost. The screen becomes similar to the screen of an electronic clock with a backlight. Thirdly, the color temperature adjustment is designed so that you can only choose between a shade of blue and a shade of yellow. It is not possible to adjust the neutral white backlight. Another unpleasant trifle - due to scrolling by touch, false positives constantly occur, you can only turn off the sensor as a whole, but not touches for scrolling. Although it would seem - make flipping with swipes and calling contextual actions with touches! I also found information that due to the addition of additional layers to e-ink, their contrast deteriorates. Those. this gray low-contrast substrate apparently has a fee for the sensor, backlight and anti-glare. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to find a reader on the modern generation of e-ink without a sensor and backlight. And with physical buttons from premium readers, only this ill-fated Oasis. And it still doesn’t fit in my head how, over the 10 years of evolution of e-ink screens, manufacturers have managed to degrade their quality.

Pros
  • Screen size. Body materials. Physical paging buttons. Fast work speed.
Cons
  • Screen quality. Touch control. Backlight. Meager settings in the native reader.
