My SATA powered miners keep failing over time, usually due to overheated power connectors. I've seen a few articles talking about using a MOLEX connector (4-pin, D-shape) for power, but many boards only come with a 6-pin adapter and a SATA adapter. I tried another brand first, had issues with MOLEX connector placement, but they are *EXCELLENT* due to MOLEX connector orientation. I haven't had a problem with the risers since the replacement, I wish I had more power cords with MOLEX connectors so I can use them exclusively.
