Non-charring paint for kitchen and dining room

I own a legal distillery and have used countless kegs. I bought this as a cool little treat to show my family how the aging process works. I inflated the keg and it held the water perfectly. They added white whiskey and we left it at my family's house by the lake to mature for the summer. Well, the keg started leaking around the head and lost all liquid within the first month. What happens is if you find a leak early enough you can fix it. But considering it was in a country house, it all leaked before we could fix it. My biggest problem is that they are very poorly built. Both barrel heads were severely deformed, which I believe caused the leak. In addition, not a single barrel head was charred, and there was virtually no charring on many of the bars. So even if he kept himself right, he wouldn't age well. Finally, the seller must make it clear that these barrels have been destroyed. Varnishing is good for barrels that you want to use as decoration. But you don't want the casks you want to age. This prevents the keg from breathing properly and can leach varnish into your spirit. Either way, it's worth paying extra for a quality cask if you want to age at home.
