Buyers ATTENTION and understand that there are multiple units. Advice from a professional plumber

I own a fire/security company. As a professional installer, I want consumers to understand the difference in movement. Honeywell makes 4 wireless 5800 devices (5898 dual tec in Move 4 which I won't elaborate on) and sellers will be very misleading as very few consumers will notice the differences between the devices. The seller will sell you a standard unit that is an entryway but at the price of a fully functional move. Below is a list of the differences. 5800PIR-RES Entry-level wireless infrared motion sensor, 80 lbs, 35' x 40' range. This motion sensor is the most basic motion sensor in Honeywell's line of wireless sensors. I wouldn't even put these up at home. It has no self-test functions. It has built-in pet protection that you cannot turn off. 5800PIR Full featured wireless PIR motion sensor, 0 or 80 lbs, 35 x 40 ft range. Note that the range is the same as the 5800-PIR-RES. It also has selectable pet immunity from 0 to 80 pounds. - This unit tests itself and if something is wrong it will activate the alarm panel if your installer has checked the appropriate boxes. - The device can be tested by walking with a flashlight to activate it, which means you have to remove the cover unlike the Res Block. It also has a UV protected lens and a programmable low temperature alarm. When the temperature is 45 degrees Fahrenheit or less for at least 10 minutes. The block starts the panel. It also repairs itself if the temperature is 48+ for more than 10 minutes. This is ideal for at home. When I install one in the basement for a customer, I program the 3rd cycle. If they are on holiday and their house is in low temperature, this can warn them before the pipes freeze etc. THIS IS THE DEVICE YOU WANT FOR YOUR HOME. The 5800PIR-COM series is ideal for commercial applications. It has the same specs as the 5800-PIR, except it has two 60x80 or z 100x20 lenses for something of a long corridor. It doesn't have pet immunity, which you don't need for commercial applications. One of the biggest advantages is that the device has an operating range of -4F to 131F, while the other two devices operate from 14F to 131F. This means that these devices will work in a very cold warehouse or a situation where people can turn off the building's heat during the cold months and prepare for winter, but still need security. I hope this information is helpful. If you're going to buy a 5800-PIR, make sure you get it. If you received a 5800-PIR-RES, please return it.
