Review on Derale 16739 Farenheit Electric Controller by Wayne Drakh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great controller! - Fan and parts

This controller was easy to install but for my application (Nissan Xterra 2003) I didn't use a water jacket connector as I couldn't find space for it. Instead, I drilled/tapped a hole in the reinforced area on the upper body of the radiator hose that already housed the temperature sensor for the factory gauge on the cluster. (I would only recommend this process to experienced people!) Most of the included items were workable, but the connectors are really cheap and cheap so I used solder and shrink wrap to make perfect connections. I was planning on using this to control the electric radiator fan and it worked great, but when I was cruising up steady hills at highway speed with the AC running in AZ heat, the fan I chose (not related to this product) didn't have enough CFM, to cool the engine. I'm not using this product anymore at the moment (it's still installed) until I find a good deal on a new higher powered CFM electric fan, but I'm sure it will work exactly as promised with the new one. Even if I never decide to go back to all electric radiator fans, I will still use this controller to run the fan for the external transmission radiator fan. I had a noticeable improvement in horsepower and the air conditioning blew a lot colder when I removed the hydraulic clutch fan and used this electric fan control instead. Mileage didn't seem to increase much, but I had a problem with a heavy foot when using the released ponies. :) I wrote about the installation and shared it on the AZXC website forum if you want to try and find it. (Link denied) I also bought another one to fit my brother's 1998 Chrysler Cirrus 2.5L. The stock car electronics no longer included both fans and instead I used this product to control them. Works great and continues to work perfectly. Again I had to drill/cut a hole to install the sensor, just like on my Xterra. I hope my review was helpful to you! Thanks very much! Secret.
