Review on DEWALT Tough Drive Impact Socket by Dave Branch

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Pretty good sentence. Good value but some quirks

I have a 1/4" socket set on my truck but for some jobs that require a 3/8" drive I have to Reaching for my large workshop tool chest is not ideal. I wanted a good 3/8" set that I could leave in my truck and not worry about my good heads getting lost or falling out of the rack mounts. So that seemed like a good option to me. I usually use an M12 3/8" shock, so spending another $10 on this set might do double the work. All in all, a good set with a decent body. I despise blown cases, and luckily this one is it's a step up and feels pretty solid.I like that with the transparent lid you can see it's the right way round. It seems like a small thing but I have several sturdy cases with slide latches that you use to hold them can easily be opened upside down. Luckily this one won't let you do that as it's transparent and the latches are placed that way. The finish on the plug isn't as rough as some cheap shock absorbers, but it's also not nitrated or QPQ-like, as you will see some of the nicer effects of GW.I quickly sprayed all mine with gun oil to try and prevent future rust. The good thing is that they have both a short ext extension and a drill/screwdriver adapter included. The ratchet is neat, the tooth isn't super small, but it's not rough either. This is a dog. You can disassemble it with a T9 torx, so that's good. Mine was bone dry so a few drops of oil improved the feel a bit. What they could improve: Not having an M10 in the 3/8" set is a dumb move. There's plenty of room in the case. Liners, it doesn't mean they didn't have enough room. I'd rather ditch the large size or skip the odd size (M16) to get 10mm. Okay. Speaking of case dimensions, it's a bit inefficient at wasting space. I'm guessing it's a standard case they stuffed that insert and tool, but he turned out to be slightly larger than necessary. The cost alone is a good deal. If you priced everything separately you could spend $43 pretty quickly. only a few outlets. If you're building a simple box for your shop or garage, you can I might stop by and look at larger kits that offer even more value, but if, like me, you're looking for an extra kit to leave your truck or van with, especially if you occasionally use it h use a 3/8 inch cordless drum, this set is hard to beat.
