The aesthetics of this amp are brutal in a good way. This is a trapezoidal shape with a significant weight and thickness of the body. He would fit well into a Sith Lord's interior. It doesn't waste space or resources on things like: buttons, color (other than a faint blue tinge), or curves. The A4 feels like an exercise in utilitarian design, which is why it appealed to me so much. Looking through the Sabaj website, I could tell that I had put a lot of thought into the performance and internal circuitry of this device. The sound quality is very clear to my ear. Coming from the Audioengine N22, it feels a little less harsh and more refined/clean. I hooked up a couple of modest 20W 4 ohm bookshelf speakers and the sound was exceptionally clear with amazing stereo separation. I hooked up a new pair of AKG K240s and was not disappointed at all. The headphone amplifier sounds very neutral and balanced with enough power to push these 55 ohm headphones to their limits. There's no background hiss or hiss, which is a huge relief from a loud, gaming-grade headphone amp. This device was the only one in its price range to pack so many features into one package and I'm happy to report that Sabaj didn't skimp on the quality of the internals to achieve this price point. The problem with this amp is beyond the controls. They aren't backlit or tactile, so it takes a few tries to operate this device in the dark. Again, tactile controls aren't something a Sith Lord would worry about, so maybe I'm not the target audience here. All in all I didn't plan to spend that much on a headphone amp but now that I have one I can confidently call it one of Revain's hidden gems. Update 10/25/2018: Generally still satisfied, but there have been a few complaints lately. (1) The device played a VERY loud annoying static sound that didn't stop until the USB was disconnected. This happened while connected to my laptop when waking up from sleep with the A4 enabled. I had to unplug the USB cable to stop it. It could have been a USB transmission error on my laptop as it only happened once. (2) I can also confirm what another reviewer said about the analog input noise. It's not significant, but it's there. The digital inputs are still completely silent in terms of noise floor (except for the "alarm clock" sound that played once).
