A little background first. I have a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4wd with a 5.3L LC9 engine. Unfortunately I lost a couple of pushrods/cams at about 125,000 miles due to oil issues. Since these valve train parts needed to be replaced, I decided to upgrade rather than keep the stock parts. After all the work was done I installed the soft drag cam, removed the AFM/DOD system (V4 mode), installed new tappets/followers/springs/trunnions, installed a new high pressure oil pump and a cold K&N air intake. , and then upgraded the exhaust from the engine to the end. All of these modifications were coupled with a custom dynamometer setup. The new exhaust system that was installed included long Kooks exhaust manifolds with 1-3/4 inch primary headers and a Y-pipe with Kooks coil. Behind the Y-pipe, I replaced the factory cat-backs with Corsa dB part #24904. I chose the dB system because it was about $400 cheaper than the regular Corsa Sport system (part #14904). ) and it could be connected directly to Kook's Y-pipe (easy installation). All I read about the Corsa dB system was that it was definitely louder than the original but had very little, if any, hum. just too loud for me. It definitely sounded rude, but it was too much for the daily driver. So I started looking for a solution that would muffle the exhaust a bit without sacrificing too much performance. The Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator was the perfect solution and far exceeded my expectations. waiting! From cold starts to freeway speeds, this little resonator made a big difference and kept the volume down. Also, I haven't noticed ANY difference in performance until now! This makes sense as the resonator is an end-to-end design and likely has little impact on free flow. However, I have not tested before or after, so I cannot guarantee that performance has not been impacted. Here is your statement for those more knowledgeable on the subject. How I installed my resonator (see photos): The resonator is 9.75" long (not including the pipe ends), I cut a 9.75" section from my current exhaust system for a perfect fit once the resonator pipe ends attached to both ends of my existing exhaust were pushed. . The Kooks Y-tube and the Corsa Cat-Back were connected with a ball clamp. Both the Kooks Y-pipe and the Corsa rear panel have been designed to connect to standard systems (front or rear). Whether you installed the Kooks trays/Y-pipes and kept the factory/stock cat-back, or installed the Corsa cat-back behind the factory/stock Y-pipe, it will fit because both narrow down to 2.75 are. " (Standard) ID connection. So if you can picture this front to back (see pictures), the end of the Kooks Y-tube tapers to a 2.75" ID and terminates with a male ball clamp connection. Corsa Catback started with an internally threaded spherical clamp joint, then 2.75" ID, then narrowed down to 3" ID. Since the resonator ID is 2.75" (if you measure the inside of the actual resonator part), if I rule out the 2.75" ID spherical clamp section and replace it with a 2.75" ID resonator , it won't make much of a difference in system flow since in both configurations that exhaust section still has a 2.75" ID (If that was too confusing, just look at the pictures and they basically explain it visually.) I know that this review d was long and contained many details that may have nothing to do with the resonator. However, I wanted to provide details because when it comes to the exhaust, the engine's cam, manifolds, Y-pipe (with or without crampons) and the feedback system can all play a role in how the exhaust sounds. . For those who have a similar truck with the same engine and similar mods, this might be just what you need to make the exhaust quieter. For those just trying to verify that this resonator is working. It definitely works! Now that the resonator is in place, it's very similar to a quieter exhaust note in light driving conditions. However, when you step on the gas pedal you can definitely hear the aftermarket/higher quality sound. It's quiet when you want it to be quiet, but not too quiet when you want it to bang.
