A well-made device in a beautiful aluminum case. Although there is a convenient eject button on the front, the tray opens at the command of the computer's built-in optical drive software. Speaking of software, no additional software is required to operate this device. It is truly plug and play operation. My Windows 10 computer recognized the drive immediately as soon as I plugged in the USB cable that came with it. I was able to play the music CD and view the photo CD with no problems. You must download CD burning software if you intend to create your own CDs. There are many free programs that can be downloaded from the Internet. Overall, I'm very happy with this quiet, compact device.
