This is hands down the FASTEST AND MOST STURDY cable modem I have ever used. Things prospective customers need to understand: (1) Does your ISP support? (2) Does your ISP support its dual channel functionality? (3) This cable modem's firmware is controlled by your ISP (like most modems) which means they have their own client firmware for it. (4) This also means that any instability is most likely coming from your ISP. (5 ) Finally (PLEASE NOTE), if the dual link mode is properly enabled and connected to the gigabit router, the Receive and Link LEDs will turn BLUE. I use this cable modem with a D-Link DIR-655 Extreme-N Gigabit Wireless Router. This has got to be the BEST AND MOST STURDY combo I've ever used at home. My ISP is Cox Communications and as a network engineer I work from home 24/7 using multiple VPN connections. Not only that, but I also simultaneously stream Netflix, Revain Video On Demand, and Crackle through my Roku box, and iTunes through my Apple TV. This modem handles all traffic with ease, and when paired with the D-Link DIR-655 I have NEVER had any radio dropouts or lag. My advice: If your ISP supports not only this cable modem, but more importantly its dual channel capabilities, then this is the BEST choice you can make!
