I may have opened the package wrong, but I didn't see a small instruction manual. So I tried lighting it several times and almost burned the fabric wick. Take some liquid lighter fluid. Unscrew the "match" and remove it. Fill the hole about halfway with lighter fluid. Then replace the match. Allow the wick to soak up the lighter fluid. I repeated this process several times. until I felt the wick saturated. I took out the match, dumped out the excess lighter fluid, and put the match back in. The lighter has worked great so far. I bought and soaked 10 pieces. I plan to give them to my cigar smoking friends. Torches are nice, but you feel like a boss.
