I've been using these pitchers for over ten years now. They are very durable, although I should note that one of them broke after a few years of use when I quickly poured in a full pot of boiling water (even then it didn't explode - just broke securely around the base, never broke or formed ). Chaos). However, I've used these hot water jugs a lot in the past to make iced tea - I think letting the water stand a bit or even pouring it more slowly will prevent breakage and I will continue to use them to make tea. . I like these pitchers because the lids fit well and the glass is thick and strong - I can shake shakes and other drinks with ice, herbs and/or fruit before serving. I only use glass, not thick plastic, because it doesn't leach chemicals into acidic drinks, and finding sturdy glass jugs with a lid proved more difficult than I expected. I have about 6 of these and use them all the time.
