I have two (2) Mercedes Benz W140. My 93 400sel, I've used Bilsteins ($$$), I've put 4 of these Monroes on my 98 S420 and it's almost an imperceptible difference, maybe a little bit better. The prices don't bite either! I'm definitely an OEM guy, but this isn't a "cheap" shock kit. Definitely an improvement and your W140 will drive as it should! I highly recommend all do-it-yourselfers to check out the AutoDoc (W140 shock absorber) on YouTube and I can promise you without a doubt that with a few simple tools, a jack and stands, you can get it done in about 30-40 minutes for each revolution. Make sure you check out the specific YouTube videos I'm talking about! .Search "AutoDoc W140" on YouTube and see how stupid it is to change them. I also didn't use any power tools. Definitely recommended! I also suggest while you're under the car, take the opportunity to clean the suspension a bit. I used Home Depot flat black spray paint on the bottom shelf (0.99 cents a can) and sprayed the calipers with barley and they look amazing!
