I like that this rug is smaller and more comfortable to use. It has a great hard surface that works a lot better than an ironing board. However when I used this on my desk it definitely got heat and moisture onto the table so I was sure it would damage the table. I put a towel under the mat to protect the table, but ultimately I think I need to look for something better that really prevents heat from penetrating through the bottom layer. I highly recommend this product if you want to use it on a surface that will not be damaged by the heat and humidity of the iron.
