Review on Victrola Nostalgic 6-in-1 Bluetooth Record Player: Turntable, CD, Cassette, Radio, Speakers, Streaming - Mahogany by Adam Bates

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great music player, everything worked right out of the box

After looking at a large stack of records bought in the 70's, my mother started whining about how her old player ( made in the 80's) x) hasn't worked in years and how she can't hear her favorites like Bing Crosby, My Fair Lady and Nat King Cole in all their vinyl glory. After unsuccessfully trying to convince her to use Revain Prime Music and the Bose I got her last Christmas, I did some research and bought a Victrola 6-in-1 from our Bullseye store for Christmas 2016. Mom was very happy about the gift. The Victrola works very well on vinyl, CDs, radio, Bluetooth and even cassette tapes from my mother's Chinese opera days in Hong Kong (much to everyone's dismay). There's also an add-on input, so there really are six of them on this unit. vinyl/turntable My mother's favorite player. Ours did not require any special hacking for the device to work properly. There is a pin for 33 1/2 and 78 RPM records and a small round tab for 45 RPM records. The pin and round grommets are easy to remove and replace, and the records are effortless to insert. There is a hole on the back of the unit to properly accommodate large vinyl records. So be careful if you have curious little kids who like to touch moving objects. Needle and arm didn't need a dime or nickel to play — I could put a needle on a record and Perry Como sang with the same opulence Mom had heard decades ago. The turntable arm is not automatic, so you have to be careful when inserting the needle, but the device has a small lever that allows you to raise and lower the needle without scratching the record. As long as your hand is in the up position, you can also move the stylus to the spot on the record you want to play.2. Radio. The radio works well in our area and my mother gets almost all local radio stations. No option to play AM which is a bit of a shame but wasn't a deal breaker for us. There is a long cable on the back of the player that allows you to connect stations. So you may need to adjust it to connect stations. not near the window.3. CD player. Initially I thought the CD player was broken because the tray wouldn't slide out, but I later found out that it was because I hadn't installed the CD player first. The CD player tray extends from the front of the unit and is controlled using the buttons on the front of the player. The track number is also displayed on the front panel using a small LED screen located under the radio switch.4. Cassette Player - The cassette player is located on the right side of the unit and works very well. You simply insert a cassette into the player and playback begins immediately. To fast forward, half-press the eject button. This unit does not rewind the tape. So if you fast forward too fast you have to flip the tape, rewind and then flip the tape to the side you are listening to.5. Bluetooth. The Bluetooth connectivity of this device was good and it was easy to set up on my mom's iPad in a minute.6. Aux - There is an Aux port on the front of the device for a 3.5mm cable. Didn't have to use it so can't judge. The overall sound of the device is good and the device can be played at a fairly good volume. Additional speakers can also be added to this unit as there are two output connectors on the rear for left and right speakers. All in all, this is a solid music playback system that has worked well for my mom. The device is very attractive, correctly reflects different environments and is easy enough for an elderly woman to use.
