Ethics at TruDog, a Disappointing Business

As a cat owner, I appreciate brands that make animal welfare a top priority. Unfortunately, my interaction with TruDog made me doubt the company's dedication to its stated principles. TruDog states that they are a family-run business that is committed to offering premium pet supplies, food, and dogs, but their actions belie this claim. To my dismay, I learned that they import their beef from China, a country with a shady history of producing subpar and sometimes downright dangerous food items. This makes one doubt the legitimacy of their business and the morality of buying their products. They charge exorbitant rates, and their "dedication" to charity doesn't seem genuine. Many pet owners can't afford to buy TruDog products because they are so much more costly than the alternatives. It appears that profits are their primary motivation rather than improving the lives of pets and their caretakers. Overall, I cannot in good faith back a business whose top priority is making money at the expense of animals' lives and well-being. I think it's important for people who care about their pets to look for businesses that are honest about where their products come from and how much they charge.

Pros
  • Excellent client care.
Cons
  • Sometimes shipping takes a long period.
