I decided it was time to restore my 15 year old road bike and as the cable ends were long gone and the cables were badly worn, I decided to replace the cords and crimp new ends. After the agony of getting 1.2 and 1.6mm ends for two cables (and having to buy a ton of them for the TWO plugs I need) I found these that say they work for both fit. I had my doubts but I bought them. They fit both cable sizes!
