I have had great respect for Zyxel products since the early 1990s when they made the best phone modems and I try to use Zyxel whenever my ISP doesn't forbid me, just to use their devices. The Armor Z2 is a great whole-home router, even ready to go, powerful enough to handle media and gaming streams, and with powerful and fast built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Two-storey building with an area of 4000 sq.m. Feet are lightly covered. I would still recommend a 1GB wired connection for devices like NAS to avoid lag when multiple users are trying to run a high volume of operations at the same time, as the end-user Wi-Fi is more than adequate for all sorts of needs. However, it turns into a real gem. When you install openWrt. The hardware capabilities of this modem are higher than some 18xx CISCO SOHO routers, allowing shaping, filtering, complex routing and NAT, tunneling and WAN backup to work in leaps and bounds for a small office with high network performance and security requirements. (e.g. a small research and development company). So I strongly recommend considering this modem as a good and cheaper alternative to high-end SOHO routers.
