Does not support DFS channels

Does not support DFS channels, so you are limited to 2 5GHz channels. Pray you don't have neighbors who have a router that doesn't support DFS. I regret buying this router. There are SIX 80MHz WiFi channels in 5GHz. You can always use two channels. However, to use the other four DFS channels, the router must enable special processing to avoid interference with existing uses (weather radar and military applications; highlighted in red at right) and pass FCC certification tests. In short, if you…

The best router we've ever had!

We've had our Zyxel router for over a month and we still haven't had to restart it! We were replacing our 3 year old Linksys router which needed to be rebooted at least once a week and often daily. The Zyxel router has a number of advantages including speed, ease of setup and reliability. At the moment we have 23 devices connected to the router and streaming Rogue One with Netflix. When our whole family is here, we often have around 40 devices connected. Setup was very easy and took about 20…

good to bad in 2 days

Everything went well in the beginning. about 15 machines connected, Z2 became unusable. First it attacked all my 5 cameras and made them immune: even though they responded to pings, they prevented me from logging in and not seeing anything. These are two different camera manufacturers. and three different models. They were so unresponsive that I had to factory reset them all as the reboot had no effect. At least they weren't banned. Then the Amazon Fire TV refused to be part of the Z2 wireless…

Ideal solution for SOHO. Especially with OpenWRT

I have had great respect for Zyxel products since the early 1990s when they made the best phone modems and I try to use Zyxel whenever my ISP doesn't forbid me, just to use their devices. The Armor Z2 is a great whole-home router, even ready to go, powerful enough to handle media and gaming streams, and with powerful and fast built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Two-storey building with an area of 4000 sq.m. Feet are lightly covered. I would still recommend a 1GB wired connection for devices like NAS to…

Great all round router

Don't be fooled by the marketing on the box or the weird alien design. This is an excellent router. For 1400sqm this router offers excellent coverage, true SQM/working Streamboost/MU-MIMO and a reasonable out-of-the-box setup. Again, if you want to run your own firmware (OpenWRT), given the convenience of the hardware (CPU/chipset and amount of flash available: 4GB), that's a good choice. This router also has the same hardware as the Netgear X4S but costs about $30 less. As always, we recommend
