My truck has a 351 Windsor and it doesn't work very well. Rebuilding the carburetor helped, but a new carburetor would probably have really helped. The ignition work I did helped a lot. I did the ignition in 3 steps - replaced the points with an electronic module; coil replaced; Spark plugs, cables, distributor caps and slides replaced. The least noticeable change was with the coil, but I think that's true because the old coil worked and it just produces a longer and stronger arc. Replacing the points with the Ignitor II removed some pretty crappy points from the system. Replacing the spark plugs, wires, rotor and cap removed some lousy connection points in the circuit as evidenced by a wire exiting its connector on the cap. 0.065 and it was clear that the bigger the gap the better the truck worked and I've only tried bigger gaps with this higher voltage coil.
