I like the short terry cloth on one side and the glass-smooth towel on the other. These towels are huge so you don't have to carry multiple towels during a drying session. And yes, they absorb well. They make drying glasses and other dishes a real pleasure! Almost as good as going from dishwasher to dishwasher! In my case, my dishwasher uses very hot water, so I just let the hot water evaporate (and leave the dishwasher door ajar) instead of turning on the drying function. This keeps my glasses from smearing, but I often drape a towel over inverted glasses and mugs to soak up excess water before letting them dry and cool for half an hour. These towels are so big and absorbent that I think I could put a towel on top of the dishes on the shelf and not even have to move them. I really like these towels. I bought these for my dad's house and as soon as I tried them on I wanted to buy a set but unfortunately they are not on sale yet.
