Let's be CREATIVE. My 2016 Odyssey LOVES it!

I bought this mat a few weeks ago because I saw it was only $6.50 as an accessory and I knew I would use it for something. We just bought our first minivan. weeks ago. This is a 2016 Honda Odyssey SE Edition, so NATURALLY I'm looking for some cool/fun accessories. You can see in one of the photos that I have already purchased and purchased coasters/liners. I LOVE HER. We love storing our phones in this low profile storage compartment on the front console. It occurred to me yesterday. That's why I bought a Honda rubber liner. I'll trim it to fit the storage so our phones or whatever we put in there won't shift! Sometimes we leave the keys there and they slide and rattle all over the place as we drive (to the rubber mat). The rubber isn't very thick, but definitely thick enough to be the perfect liner. It feels pretty solid. I was worried it would take too much thickness and we'd lose some depth, but you don't. At least nothing remarkable. If you want to do that too, the width within the storage area is 7 inches and the height is 8 1/2 inches. I measured 4 1/4 inches from the center of the Honda "H" and marked it, and then 3 1/2 inches from the center and marked it. Precise cutting tip: I used a paper cutter! The? Yes, it works VERY well. The lines are cut perfectly straight with no hanging rubber pieces. CLEAN cuts. The rubber can tend to stick together when cut, resulting in an imperfect line, so I slowly cut into pieces, about 1 inch at a time to make sure they don't come loose during assembly. does it make sense? What's really cool is that the paper cutter has lines engraved at every 1/2 inch mark along its entire length (see photo). So when you've made a cut on one side, you can line up the other side and know the next cut will be now. I assume most paper cutters have this feature. Of course you can also do without it, but it simply makes precise cuts a lot easier. I then used a head that matched the same curvature of the stock area and an exacto knife to try and cut the perfect round corner and THAT didn't work. it turns out not so hot (see photo). I'm still SUPER happy with it and I wish the curve would fit the corners perfectly, but I'm not kicking myself out of bed over it. I also put a bunch of double sided tape (see photo) on the bottom to hold it in place but damn THAT didn't work. There are a few small microdots on the surface, so I'm going to use thicker double-sided breakpoints or something. Gluing it on is probably overkill because it stays where you put it unless you try to move it, but I've gone as far as that. I hope some of you found this useful!
