Review on Easy Install, Contemporary Style: 20-Inch Adhesive Towel Bar For Bathroom - SUS 304 Stainless Steel Brushed Finish by Carlos Barrett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Perfect paired with 3M Command adhesive

Clean design; looks better than my new apartment's industry-typical towel bar.Less one star only because they ought to just leave the adhesive off (if 3M won't let them market the product with its Command strips included). I think I found this by searching for "Command Strip towel bar".Removing the pre-installed permanent adhesive takes some fuss; here's how. Peel the protective film from the adhesive. Soak the metal contact pad in mineral spirits (paint thinner) for several hours. It's soaked long enough when the foam pad easily peels off as a piece. Under that is a thinner film of gooey adhesive that held the foam to the metal. Soak again until that can be easily scraped away with a thumbnail (directly into the trash). When the last goo has been wiped off with mineral spirits and a paper towel, there remains a thin film that may be innocuous, but can be scoured off with Comet cleanser, leaving shiny metal for two Command Large Water-Resistant Refill Strips, 4-Strip .I haven't installed it yet, but from long experience with Command adhesive, I'm confident that two large strips per pad will be more than strong enough to support bar and towel, IF YOU FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS.

Pros
  • Can be used in RVs or rental apartments where drilling into walls is not allowed.
Cons
  • The bar may be easily knocked off the wall
