Aquabeads are my favorite item in my house. Kids sometimes use templates or get creative by making their own. The best thing about them is that they all work together, no matter the shape or set of beads or patterns. You can use round beads where the stars go, it doesn't matter. All sets can be combined. There's a slight learning curve when it comes to how much water to spray. Small children usually have the most problems with this, they want to overspray their project until the beads are soaked that they dissolve into each other making the design less appealing. If water gets into the water, the colors on the spheres will flow like water-based markers and the spheres will lose their shape. Simply spray on damp, but not soaked, and let dry. We try to let the structures dry for several hours, overnight for large ones. This set has many beautiful colors and fun patterns.
