I recently tried this flux for the first time and it works exceptionally well. I was impressed by how much crap it pulls out of lead compared to other fluxes. I recently rebuilt a couple of silver alloy Oregon Trail bullets which should have been pretty clean given the company's reputation. I steamed the grease off of them and then washed them with industrial degreaser and lots of hot water so I know I didn't inject anything. I pulled out about half the crap I could pull out of scrap lead with a mediocre flux, very dirty by my standards. Other bullets I've melted down from Speer (all old .45-70 bullets that I don't use anymore) were even dirtier. To save a buck, I think the big manufacturers keep their leadership a little dirty. I like my good and clean ones because they make nicer balls. TIPS: Use about 1/8 teaspoon per 3-4 pounds of lead. Add half, mix and leave for 15-30 seconds, let stand 15-30 seconds, then skim off the foam. Repetition. For a really messy lead, you might have to do this 3-4 times. Avoid disposing of large amounts of flux at one time as this is wasteful and inefficient. It's really up to you how clean you want it to be, and remember with flux you're removing some good lead every time you do it. When you get to the point where you're pulling out more lead than contaminants, it's time to stop. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO WEAR A RESPIRATOR WITH 3M CARTRIDGES #60926! recycle (currently bullet cores are rejected by the bullet manufacturer) so I can focus on making great bullets another day. Aluminum cans with cut ends and interiors sprayed with Frankford Arsenal mold release agents are excellent for chills. It's very easy to just separate the aluminum from the ingot when it's done. I always swear by Lee bullet molds (as well as their factory dies). With great attention to detail, they cast bullets that can be used without calibration.
