Review on πŸ”§ Advanced Bit System: Optimized Countersink for Woodworking Flooring by Rick Everett

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Works well initially but wears out much quicker than advertised.

I use this for a small deck made from Garapa wood. I started out with a Starborn #7 trimmer head bit, but decided to go with a snap-in system, so I removed the trimmer head screws. So 90% of the holes I drilled with this Pro Plug Tool were already pre-drilled and slightly countersunk. caused very torn edges so it was useless at the time. The packaging says it should be enough for about 350 holes drilled for Garapa, not even close and yes I used a mains powered drill, not a battery powered drill. Also, if the countersink wears out, what's the use of the two spare bits that come with the kit before you have time to wear out the original bit? Garapa is on the low end of the Yankee hardness scale for tropical hardwoods, I wouldn't even try using that on IPE etc. UPDATE 8/13/2019 - Rating revised from 2 stars to 1 star I had 28 holes left to complete the deck project so I went ahead and bought another one of these, thinking that if the first one was 65 holes long would be able to finish the remaining 28 holes and wrap it up. The second only lasted 12 holes before the countersink wore out and started burning holes instead of cutting them. After the cutter wears out, the uneven circumference around the holes requires additional work of careful grinding to prevent grain chipping, in addition to burning the hole.
