PRE-DRILLS AND COUNTERBORES PERFECTLY- The patented number 8 Pro Plug Tool for Wood creates a screw hole and countersinks all in one step. The tool is designed for use with the Pro Plug System for wood by Starborn Industries. CUTS THROUGH DECKING AND FLOORING MORE THAN 2X AS FAST AS STANDARD WOOD BITS- The drill bits feature Powerbolic fluting, enabling the bits to bore twice as fast, speeding up installation. SPINNING STOP COLLAR WITH O-RING PREVENTS DAMAGE TO BOARD SURFACE- stop collar spins independent of the drill and counterbore assembly. The hole is complete when the stop collar stops spinning. INCLUDES TOOL, 2 REPLACEMENT BITS, 1 STUB BIT, AND A HEX WRENCH- the stub bit is designed for plug only installations with no fasteners. For easy install make sure to have a corded power drill, power sander, wood glue and hammer or mallet on hand. FOR BEST RESULTS, VIEW THE PRO PLUG TOOL LIFE PHOTO- this will give you an idea of how many tools are needed to complete your job. This is based on the wood used. One tool will work for 100 sq ft of Ipe or Cumaru but the same tool will last for 200 sq ft of Meranti or Red Balau.

The bit doesn't match the size of the plug - Terrible!

Countersink too small for dowels and can crack deck boards if you try to hammer hardwood or bamboo: Bit: .315" Ipe Male: .345" Dasso Male : 0.355 inch . After drilling TEN of holes in my new deck, none of the end caps from two separate sets of end caps fit in the holes. If you clog the plugs, the tree will split. Since plugs are always oversized I now have to find a new countersink and then try to carefully drill all the existing holes without hitting the cover screw underneath - what aโ€ฆ

The drill itself is nonsense! Each of them hammered less than 10 holes

The drill itself is garbage! Each broke after less than 10 holes. It is not made of high enough quality steel and becomes brittle fairly quickly. However, since I really wanted the sink to be exactly the right size and guaranteed to fit the Cumaru dowels, I simply pre-drilled a good quality 1/8 bit in a regular drill press and then used a professional spade punch (included) in it Impact wrench to countersink my holes. I know it's an extra step, but considering how much these things cost, it'sโ€ฆ

Works well initially but wears out much quicker than advertised.

I use this for a small deck made from Garapa wood. I started out with a Starborn #7 trimmer head bit, but decided to go with a snap-in system, so I removed the trimmer head screws. So 90% of the holes I drilled with this Pro Plug Tool were already pre-drilled and slightly countersunk. caused very torn edges so it was useless at the time. The packaging says it should be enough for about 350 holes drilled for Garapa, not even close and yes I used a mains powered drill, not a battery poweredโ€ฆ
