Review on Wireless Phone/Modem Jack System PH0900 by Philips by Michelle Cooper

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Did the job but could have been better.

I bought this product with some hesitation after reading many reviews of different wireless phone jacks. They seem to be pretty good or not, and depending on your home's wiring, they may or may not work without the wireless phone jack bug itself. My preferences before buying: My house is fairly new, built in 2007, but I'm not sure if that matters or not. I have a VOIP phone at home, I use DECT cordless phones throughout the house. I have an Epson multifunction printer that I sometimes use to send a fax. (Also, I can't believe this technology is still being used and it's awful that some companies are making requests that can only be done by fax. Anyway.) I have a VOIP modem and a phone base in the same one Side room and a printer/fax machine on the other side. When I needed to send a fax, I would temporarily move the printer/fax, disconnect the phone and connect it to the printer/fax. It was excruciating and I was looking for a simple solution to keep everything in place. My setup after purchase: I plugged in the WiFi jack and the extenders in their respective places. My multifunction printer now has a phone line connected from the expansion module so I can use fax. The two blocks are in the same space and on the same circuit. They plug directly into the wall, not through a surge protector or extension cord. (If you plan on using a surge protector/stretcher, check if they mention anything about wireless phone jacks or powerline ethernet adapters. Some are designed for this type of technology, while others don't allow it.) cordless phone and Extension cords leave enough room for you to still use the top plug, as I did. Once both devices are connected, the LEDs should change from red to green, indicating a connection. It's easy to set up, just plug them in and plug the phone cord into the appropriate places. Experiences with wireless phone jack and extension: Keep in mind that I only use it for faxing and have only tried faxing so far. So I'll update the review if my experience changes, but here's what I found. It took two attempts before the fax went through. Fax was about 6 pages. It might not work the first time for many reasons. I never thought fax was 100% reliable. However, I noticed a lot of noise on the line when she dialed. So this could lead to a communication error. At the second attempt there were disturbances again, but the fax went through. I could imagine that if I tried to use a wireless phone jack for a voice line I would have a terrible experience and choose a different solution. Luckily it works for fax. I should also note that there is no noise on my phones. They go through a cordless phone jack, but unlike static electricity from an extension cord, they are not affected by static electricity. Overall I would recommend this product if you use it for faxing. Or even if you use it for something else, it might be worth trying to see if your experience is different. Your house may have different wiring. I think if you're having trouble with one wireless phone jack and you're looking for a different one, you're likely to have the same problems. At the time of my purchase, this was one of the cheapest on Revain. For me it's worth the purchase as long as it works so I don't have to constantly switch the multifunction printer when I want to fax something.
