You get what you pay for

This is a very good set of anvils. They're expensive because they're also certified, and you can rest assured that you're getting reliable readings when you use them. For those who only use these tools for hobby purposes, yes, there are likely cheaper products out there that are better suited for less serious work. However, if you do this professionally, you cannot count on good deals for the quality of your work and the safety of your work. Most professional machinists know this and also know that even a novice machinist can get their money back in a week in exchange for years or use of these tools. There are many different types of Mitutoyo tools in my shop, all of which work very well, stand up to everyday use and guarantee excellent parts time and time again. As a side note, I didn't actually buy the anvil set, I bought the anvil set along with the Mitutoyo 0-1" thread microphone, but it's exactly the same set of 6 from 3.5 to 80 TPI, you simply get more bang for your buck this way.

Pros
  • For Mitutoyo 126 and 326 series threaded micrometers
Cons
  • So far so good
